rusty carrier what should i do?

I would clean it up and check it for any pitting. If it has none install it. It will be fine if it isn't. Pitted or rotting out. By the picks it looks more like surface rust from sitting in water.

cool im installing a locker, I have the ring gear off already. ill clean it up tomorrow with the wire brush and see what it looks like.

Looks pitted from here. I would strongly recommend against using a wire brush and just stick to sand paper on the affected area.

Are these stock gears or gears that are actually worth money? Which axle?

I would advise against sandpaper. Use emery cloth.

see thats my guess. But for it to be like that, i wonder if the jeep sat and tires didnt move much at all afterwards
