Default Rust prevention

Hope I'm posting the correct area.

I'm noticing there's small spots of rust starting to form on my roof. Damn jeep killer.

Im looking for a quick solution to stop it from spreading and creating holes. I saw Cortec®¨ VpCI online, is this my best chance? Will I need to sand and reprint?

It all depends on how work you want to put in it.

I'm not familiar with the products you have mentioned but I am assuming it is a product that converts rust into "metal"? I can't vouch for these but would guess that it is overkill for small spots of surface rust.

For surface rust such as rock chips that have began to rust or simple scratches that have removed the basecoat and began to rust, I use an air eraser to remove the rust (works amazingly) be sure to clean all rust, then just use toothpick and a small vial of touchup paint. Apply a little at a time trying not to add too much on any given application. You want to build it up layer by layer until it's flush with the rest. After that I gently sand it down with a "Magic Eraser" until flush and smooth and then buff and polish it by DA polisher.

If you don't remove ALL of the rust it will only resurface.

The best way to actually PREVENT rust is to keep it clean and a good sealant or wax on it. Even if you don't feel like touching the spots up after removing the rust you can apply a couple coats of wax over the spots and it will prolong it's return, won't prevent it but will allow you time to get around to painting them.

Sounds like a great idea. Though mine on the roof isn't from rock chips or scratches, it's starting to bubble in spots, like jeep chicken pocks. I'll look into that sealant and magic eraser.
I bought her from a car dealership near San francisco. There were a few rust areas that they fixed for me for free but there's some more showing up.

Grrr damn salt air.

Clean area with acetone. Take a high grit sand paper to it 36 - 80 grit. Sand down to bare metal. Clean once again. Pick up a can of Rustoleum rust reformer. Make sure the area is bone dry. Spray on Rustoleum, then second coat it. This will pretty much solve it for life. It will preserve the body from further damage until you ever decide to do a proper paint job.
