88 xj 4.0 went On a trail run and it wouldn't stay running in the back country (my luck) and a guy with a wrongler said unplugg you o2 sensor so I thought I would give it a try and it runs better than wen I got it. So should I leave it or fix it?

On an 1988? I'm guessing that it's original. You should replace it, it's going to cause your engine to run rich and really slurp the gas, fouling spark plugs and eventually destroying your catalytic converter.

Absolutely replace it! The engine will be more efficient with a solid oxygen sensor circuit. They aren't that expensive.
Bosch is fine for the 87-90 4.0 engine; it is what your XJ came with off the factory line. Later Jeep switched to NTK.
