My ride seems to always be running hot. It runs at 210 while I am driving but when I stop at a light or sitting in traffic it will go up from there. It never reaches the red but steadly runs way up there while sitting. I have changed out the clogged radiator for a new radiator and also changed the thermostat. Water pump seems to work just fine. Everything else looks good. Any suggestions on other things that I should check?

"Creeping overheat" at idle is a sign that your fan clutch is failing. Fans not blowing enough air past the radiator at a stop. Next time you're at that high temp in the picture, pop the hood and look to see if your electric fan is on (it's the black one on the right). It's supposed to come on at 218.

Then shut it down and see if your mech fan keeps spinning.

How would one tell if a "water pump is working fine"? The only thing one can tell from the outside is "it's not leaking". I believe this water pump was not leaking and obviously not working either....but u can't tell for sure 'til it's off.

Yep I have done that. It does come on and stops when the vehicle stops. UPDATE: Actually I checked it a few weeks ago when I started diving into fixing this and it was shutting off when the vehicle shuts off. BUT today, it kept spinning.

True...well its not leaking. The radiator shop told me it was fine. I was just taking their word for it. Do you think replacing it might be in order?

I haven't seen a water pump that bad in a long time. A buddy of mine had a a Toyota that kept over heating and his pump look even worst then that one. Needless to say after we changed it out he had no more over heating problems.

Sounds like you have a bad fan clutch.

I think if one doesn't know how old all cooling system components are, they should all be replaced asap. U've done the rad and t-stat and still overheat....just a little more time and "throwing money at it" (as some would say) for a new water pump and fan clutch and most likely your overheat problem will be solved. Since we're just blindly throwing money at the cooling system (I'm being facetious), how about a new rad cap and rad hoses.

when your jeep is running remove your rad cap and smell your coolent. If it smells like exhaust you have a bad head gasket or cracked head. Just make sure your coolent system is not hot when checking it. You can also use a compresion tester. Shouldnt have anything under 100 psi.
