fuel injectors?
i thought mine needed a tune up, did everything and made no difference.
twisted the fuel injectors to find a leaky one. swapped out with 703 injectors and all is good.

Plugs I believe were bosch, copper ones. Gap .035, like I have seen all over this forum.
Also I checked the firing order and it is correct.
So, where might I find instructions on how to install said Napa whole assembly pump? I am fairly new to car stuff.. I do have some buddies that could help me, though.

The fuel pump noise is pissing me off and people can hear it from outside my rig when I drive into the driveway - I'll just go ahead and do it, and get new plugs while I'm at it. The thing was running just fine after the new plugs (before the other tuneup stuff). But then, of course, 300 something miles from home, it starts acting up. Would it be normal that plugs would turn bad after almost 1,000 miles on them?
BTW. Since I have an 88 and don't understand it, what is the reason behind mentioning that it's an 88, like an inside joke? Are they notorious for bad pumps?

They are saying since it is an 88 that it is old and the pump could possibly be original so replace it so its one less thing needed later when you run into a future problem.

So why did you go with plugs that have the reputation to NOT WORK in a Jeep?
OK, I know, -- the 16 year old at Autozone suggested them because he makes a 25 cent commission on Bosch.
Obviously he knows more than the engineers do that designed it and put the plugs to use on the underhood label.
Since you've been driving it and it's become progressively worse - When putting in the correct plugs, shine a light down each cylinder to check for melted pistons - a very real possibility now.

The reason they worked at first was they were clean and new. Being the wrong heat range caused them to burn improperly, and possibly caused internal damage to your pistons/valves/ rings etc.
Bosch uses the idea of "one size fits all" - ask your wife how that works for her.
Just because they fit in the hole and work fine in a Yugo or Moskovich, doesn't mean they'll work in a JEEP.
Bosch - HITLER'S REVENGE.

Interesting - replacing plugs causes the fuel pump amd injectors to go bad? It's a good thing he didn't wash it at the same time - he avoided transmission troubles that way.

Replaced the pump - the thing is still whiney a bit, but I took it on the freeway fast enough and it's not doing that anymore. By the way, napa had it for 80$ and nothing called "Whole assembly", although, it had everything I think that I needed. I looked at the new one, it was "Carter" brand. Well, turns out the other was the same exact type.
Next step, take out Bosch and get Champion plugs I guess?
I had no clue. Guy at Autozone recommended them - hope there is no damage.

This sounds right, correct?

I'll see if the auto parts store in town has it, too, if that's the one.
