Default Running Cool

Hey guys quick question.

The weather has been pretty cool in my area the last couple weeks and I have noticed that my Jeep doesn't really warm up. Running down the highway I'm typically in the 130-160 range, is this normal and just a side effect of the cool weather or is my thermostat stuck open?

Sorry this is on a 1998 4.0

Not normal. Check thermo for sure also rest of system. Verify actual thermo temp, don't rely solely on gauge

I haven't checked anything yet, I was thinking it may be a side effect of the temps here being in the low 30's when I'm driving to work. But other than thermostat, what else could it be?

That seems like the only thing that would cause the Jeep to run cool.

U r the only one that can positively answer your question. How long have u had your XJ? Do u know if it even has a stat in it? Does the heater work good? Have verified the gauge reading by pointing a infrared temp gun at the stat cover? Time to pop the hood and get dirty.
