Default running in circles

Hey guys, so here's my issue. I had to recently change out my 4.0, my wife drove it to work one day and it laid down, number 3 piston exploded I guess, nothing left but rod and wrist pin. Anyway, I swapped 4.0's and can't get this one to start. Giving me a p0340 code. I've got fuel and spark to plugs, spark to injectors, signal to crank and cam sensor's and pulse return to ecm. I've even tried starting fluid but it still won't start. I've put in new cam and crank sensor's , and still the same. At my wit's end, please help.

What did it come out of, and what did you put it in?

It went in a 99, come out of I think a 93

Did you swap blocks or more than that? Which flexplate did you install? The 93 by chance?

I would take a close look at the distributor. #1 terminal should be at 5 o'clock. Make real sure you're not 180 degrees out.

Make extra certain that if #1 cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke, the rotor is in line with the #1 terminal on the distributor cap.

I thought the same thing, so I tried at 180 different and still the same.

Sorry guys I missed the flex plate question. I used the one that was on the new motor. I wasn't home when my son bolted it to the tranny, is there a difference in them.

There is your problem, you need the flex plate off the 99.

I'm getting fire on everything so if the flexplate was wrong would cps still be sending signal.

CPS would still send the signal but at the wrong timing. Sensors and flex plates changed over the years. The sensor and flex plate must be from the same year for the correct firing sequence. You will have to put the 99 flex plate back in for it to be in the correct timing.
