Default runnin a t-case doubler in my waggy!

im am going to run a t-case double in my waggy. its an np205 doubled with a np203. has any1 had any experiance on this? or done something along these lines? im about to do a drive train swap. im gonnabe runnin a 550hp 440 mopar bigblock and a tf 727 tranny with the t case doubler. do yall think i would still need to re gear the front and rear end if i have the doubler? it has a crappt ration right now. i haven jacked it up and counted. but its either a 3.05 or a 3.55 i dunno which. what do yall think?

With a big block you should not have to regear the extra power will make up for that. Go any lower in your gearing and your mileage will be even worse.

im not concerned about mileage! this is my tow recovery vehical not a daily driver! i just wants lots of power and lots of gear! and im still think about stepping up to 4.10s. so no1 has had any experiance with a doubler?

With two t-case's you will avoid the need to regear. You should have plent of power. But if you want input from a expert. PM a user named BrianHo13 on www.NAXJA.org i have seen his rig and he runs two t-cases on his. His rig is nice too.

With a 550 HP 440 Big Block, the only thing that will go faster than the Speed-O is the gas gauge.......

You could put the doubler box in 4lo and run on the street if needed (still 2wd) but that may be too low for street driving.

What size tires are you running?

Flexxed... are you running the Off road design Doubler? You might check at www.Coloradok5.com, you might also check here ( http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=30 ) It is the Chevy version of CF... very friendly and well managed board.

As said above, which i forgot to mention, with the 2 t-cases you do not really need to run higher gear. If you do have 3.55's keep em, if you have the 3.07/8s or whatever then maybe go bigger.

With the doubler and 3.08 gears your overall crawl ratio is only 29.88:1.
With the 3.55 it is 34.44:1.

Both are ok with such a large engine..

Just for comparison purposes my father has a 65 Chevy k10 with a 350 sbc, sm420 manual (7.01 first gear), rockwell t-221 tcase (1.94 low) and 3.73 gears.. His crawl ratio is 50.73:1. He uses his truck to haul 2+tons of water in 4hi and this thing could pull house down in 4lo..

If you really want stump pulling power and arent using it on the road I would drop the rear ratio to 4.10 or 4.56. If you will use it on the street on occasion then 3.73 or 4.10 might be better.

3.73 would give you 36.18:1 crawl ratio
4.10 would give you 39.77:1
4.56 would give you 44.24:1

You might look at getting a manual trans with a deep frist gear and OD.. for a good crawl ratio and still managable on the road.

The doubler is awsome the front digg makws it sweet in a tight spot. The 4.1 ratio that I gives in double low is sweeeet We are running it an a s/b chevy and 44's on rockwellsI can walk faster rhan it will run in double low.IMO its a little over kill for a tow rig.

awesom this info is great guys! thanks! and the cases are a np205 and np203. and i will def be checkin those forums out thanks guys! and im sure a double with rockwells would be over kill! those think have alike a 6.64 gear ratio or something crazy like that! and yes i was planning on running the offroad design brackets. but i have a real good friend who works at STAK (they make custom t-cases) and he might be hooing me up with a custom adaprer. but im nto sure yet. and i didnt really wanna run this motor but it is currently in my challenger(which never get driven) and i have a chrysler supreme race car that is about 3 hrs away from beign finished. it has a 900hp all motor 440 in it that has never even ran. i would never have time to run the car if i finished it so im gonna pull it apart run the that in my challenger and put the motor and 727 tranny outta the challenger into my waggy. i dunno the exact hp numbers on the motor in the challenger but the car went 13.8s in the 1/4 with no nitrous. so that is what i estimate. but that is neither here nor there. this is gonna be mainly used for towing and recovery. do yall think this is to much gear to drive on the street? and as far as axles right now it has narrow track d44s front and rear. but i might have a deal workin on some ford dana 60s. cuz the waggy has a driver side drop on the front. any and all suggestions are welcomed thanks for the input guys.

Too much gear? It depends on what rear ratio you are running. But if you keep the gears in the 3.XX range you should be fine on the street.. wont run on the highway very well, but towing around town and on the trail should be fine.

Since you have a hook up at Stak... cant he get you one of thier multi-speed cases?

gear ratio depends on what size tire your running. with all that power, and a doubler, and D60s youll be able to explode those axles running just 35s and a heavy foot.

haha yeah he can for about 1800 bucks lol. more depending on what i want. lol. and yeah the dana 60s minght be awhile. im gonna run what i got for a while. at least until i get the swap done. and i do plan on runnin a 35in tire. and i doubt this will ever be runnnin down the highway. just towing about 10miles from my house to the creek and back. so u think withteh doubler and 4.11 ill break the dana 60s runnin a 35?
