Default Rubicon Express 1660 Track bar and bracket install

Rubicon Express 1660 Track bar and bracket install
Quick reference guide to installing a Rubicon Express 1660 track bar and bracket on a Jeep Cherokee. Note use this only as a guide your results may vary.
New 1660 track bar and bracket

1. Soak all the bolts down with a good penetrating oil, I sprayed mine down over the course of a few days.
2. Remove the 2 18mm nuts by the spring, you will be reusing these so try not to mess the nuts up. I used a cordless impact gun to remove mine.

3. Remove the 2 18mm bolts on the bottom side of the bracket, again try not to mess up the threads on these as you will be reusing them as well. A good ½ drive ratchet worked for getting the 2 bolts out.
4. Remove the 17mm bolt holding the track bar to the axle. And remove the bar and bracket as a unit a little twisting and it comes out.
Side by side new VS old

5. On my rig the hole on the axle and become caked in rust so the new bolt would not slide threw. I reamed it out with a 1/2in bit so the new bolt would slide right in.
6. Install the new bracket: start with the 2 nuts by the spring then the 2 bolts on the underside. I left them a little loose so I could get the bar in a little easier.

7. Install the track bar starting on the axle side; be sure to line up the nut keeper in the mount and hand tighten
8. Adjust the bar until it fits into the bracket. I had to cut about an inch off the threads on mine as I bottomed out the flex joint.
9. Tighten everything down and your good to go. (note you might need an alignment after the install is finished)
Installed

Tools used:
18mm sockets and wrench
17mm socket
19mm sockets and wrench
½ drill bit and cordless drill
Penetrating oil

hey! I just got the same bracket and track bar as you bit for some reason the hole on the bracket seems to small or the bolt is to big? Maybe they messed up and put the wrong Bracket in or didnt cut the hole correctly. Any opinion?

The bracket on the axle uses a smaller bolt that what comes with the new track bar. The replacement is a 1/2" bolt and is much beefier. You need to drill out the hole to 1/2". It's very easy to do.

I also noticed that the new track bar won't adjust short enough to fit the stock set up. I am hesitant to cut off the threads though because I am planning on adding the 3.5" RE lift soon. I would hate to cut it off and then need that length when I lift it.
