Oil additives will wear out before your filter is deemed bad.

20-253 is the only one that fits correctly.

Not really opinions, oil additives usually only last 3-4k miles.

There's a Ford commercial on TV these days showing an engine with the valve cover removed and the goohy/cruddy/clumpy mess caused by owner neglect. Is there a fine line between owner neglect and extended oil change intervals????

This may help.. I think the oversized one would be the 30-8A.. I would just call them to clarify..

My opinion would be if the oil stays clean then how can sludge be developing?? Would we not be able to tell the additives are breaking down by the color of the oil?

Yep, couldn't agree with u more...........but what, maybe 1 out of 1,000,000 drivers know what a UOA is and even less have actually had one? It's just easier/cheaper to put a bigger filter on and call it good for extended drain intervals (being facetious). Personally, I like the Motorcraft FL-1A.....it's longer than stock but I don't use it with extended oil drain intervals in mind.

i'm not talking about changing once a year. my owners manual says 7500 intervals with what my driving stlye is. I would never go that long.

this is my dd and i drive 100 miles round trip with very, very little offroad. therefore i'd be changing it every 2 months.

I was thinking every 5k.

Finnally. someone just answered my ? without something smart to say.
Thankyou SamSissine. i'll check it out.

And you are right 30-8a is the one that is crossed reference with the oversized from mobile 1's m1-301.
