Here's a link to one of the videos that shows I think the biggest benefit of RP.

UOA is defiantly important but I'm not going to submit a UOA everytime I do a oil change and switch oils each time either. I think reviews and a quality product can be trusted but get a UOA when possible.

Amsoil OE 10w30 is less than $5 a quart for prefered customers, without shipping of course, and all prices go up the 1st of next month.

You need to do a little research on 'knock-off' and counterfeit products.

I was amazed at how many products are counterfeited with original looking labeling. There was a segment on the news about how things like bottled shampoo is counterfeited and sold through discount outlets.

I am not saying this is the case with Wal-Mart and Royal Purple, but Royal Purple has said on their own web site they DO NOT sell to Wal-Mart and do not know where Wal-Mart gets it Royal Purple product from.

It's not hard to open a Royal Purple Bottle and reseal it, I can tell you that much.

I went to a reputable drug store and bought a product, then I went to a discount dollar store and bought the same product in the same container and looking at them they were identical UNTIL you put them side by side.

Yeah the labels looked identical, but the Fonts and Letter Sizes were slightly different and the Bar Code was also not EXACTLY the same size.

Turns out the discount dollar store product was counterfeit.

I did some research on how to spot counterfeit product.

If you want to use Royal Purple, I say go to a Royal Purple AUTHORIZED dealer. Yeah it costs a little more, but you can be assured you are getting what you paid for.

I've been using AMSOIL in my motorcycles, and lay make the switch to Royal Purple ... still up in the air on that one.

EDIT: If you want to be sure .... CONTACT WAL-MART and inquire as to where the acquire their Royal-Purple product. If they tell you they buy it from Royal-Purple let them know that Royal Purple has published on their web site that Royal Purple does not sell to Wal-Mart.

Each Walmart is independant of eachother.. Yes they are all under the same corporation but each one is in competition with each other.

Have you ever bought something at one for $x amount and then gone to the other walmart across town and noticed its cheaper or more there?? Also proof they do not match online prices from Walmart.com..

My point is each store can carry unique items that they may buy from a local distributor, and not the manufacture directly like WM would do normally to bring you a lower price. This may be because of clientele or just market test to see about carrying it in the future area or nationwide. The product is not counterfeit, come on, that is one of the most ridiculous ideas that Walmart would carry a counterfeit product. This company would sue or be sued so bad.. They do there own research and know what they are buying. If the bottle states Royal purple motor oil then use it with confidence. This was not even the point of the thread so lets get back on topic.

Yes, and I have also seen the same thing at K-Mart, and Target.

Wal-Mart's are not independent of each other, the reason for the different prices at different Wal-Marts is what is know as " regional competitive pricing ".

Wal-Mart like all other retailers have a policy of 'competitive pricing' with competitors in the immediate region surrounding each store.

All Wal-Mart stores get their product from the same source, Wal-Mart's distribution center.

Wal-Mart owns the warehouses, they own the trucks, they own the stores, they own the employees as well! ( I used to be one )

The stores are all owned by Wal-Mart and are not independent of each other.

All product in Wal-Mart stores come through Wal-Mart distribution channels.

They have centralized purchasing departments and this is how they bring a lower price ... they purchase a larger quantity to supply a nationwide chain of retail outlets.

If you are concerned ... go to the Wal-Mart store that sells the Royal Purple product, and ask for the stores General Manager. Ask him where he buys the product from. If he/she tells you it comes from the Distribution Center then ask for the number so you can inquire as to the source of the product. Do not be surprised if you get the 'run around'.

The fact the Royal Purple is saying in writing on their web site they don't sell to WalMart is all you need to know.

Buyer beware.

Yeah but that could have changed. I mean how often do they update their website?

Anyways I guess my point is, does royal purple make that much of a difference on a trail rig? Its not my DD anymore. Oil is expensive enough as it is let alone paying $2-3 more a quart if there isn't a HUGE benifit to running rp. Call me cheap if you want but money is tight these days.

00 pa, how often are you changing your oil? If you are running through a lot of water and changing your fluids often then I would just run another high quality synthetic. I really like RP but you need to really use it to get the most out of it.

Last trail rig was hell after switching to synth. Left this one alone and its fine at 300k, hence why its a trail rig, not going to dump anymore $$ into it.

Yeah, you dont need to do a UOA everytime, but if you do one you get a base to go by. If you dont have any issues show up do one the following year. Every year may be alittle much. If you start having an issue IE..A headgasket a UOA is gonna pick up minute parts of water in the oil. The sooner you catch it the better. I dont even do mine every year, but mine dont change much. They did bust me for running a dirty air filter last time, because of abrasives. Keep in mind on 3 of my daily drivers i run 25K or a yeawhichever i hit first. When it was just 2 dailr drivers they both hit the 25k every year now with three i usually get to run it a year

I try to change every 4-6k. I might start doing the 2k then change the oil filter bit tho now that its not gonna see many road miles anymore.
