Default Rough running Cherokee/smell of gas around engine

Hi all,

I've had this Cherokee for a while (about 3 years) and use it on and off as a primary vehicle. It looks like my wife's car has finally called it quits so the Cherokee is back to full time use. Every time I start driving this thing regularly it has issues starting after I've driven it already for the day. For example, I left my house this morning and stopped to get gas on my way to work. The gas station is about 10 minutes away. I never have a problem starting it after it's been sitting all night but after I got gas it started acting up. It starts but immediately shuts off. It did this twice before I got it running and even after it started it was running pretty rough. I keep the vehicle at a constant 2k RPM for about 30 seconds and it clears up and runs fine until the next time I start it.

After running it for a while regardless of how good it's running, the smell of gas always fills the air around the engine. You can't smell it while driving but definitely after it's parked.

I don't think it's the plug/wires as when I was using it before as my primary vehicle I changed those and it didn't help the problem at all.

I don't know where to go from here :\ Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure, nut it could be a sticky injector leaking fuel into a cylinder. That would flood out that one cyl till you, as stated, revved it to 2grand or so nad burned it all outt of there. maybe try a good quality injector cleaner 1st. could be a cheap fix. hope u have good luck w it!

How does one check for a leaky injector? I don't know squat about fuel systems except if I do something wrong it could go BOOM. I'll def start with some fuel injection cleaner though as that's an easy fix.

If you are gonna change one... change them all.

There is even a write up in the write up section about a easy upgrade.

AND if you are gonna change them all, you might want to look into the 703 injector (Neon, etc) swap. there are vendors on here who sell cleaned and tested sets for a decent price and it supposedly smooths out acceleration as well as gives you a few MPG's. I say supposedly only cuz i have yet to try it myself. search "703 injector" on here before you buy injectors.

I read the write up and it doesn't look like that bad of a job to do. It's definitely looking like the 703 injector is the way to go. Anyone know where I can get them? I'm a little hesitant with eBay since I wouldn't really know if the injectors are legit or not. I was checking out teamcherokee.com and found stock injectors but no 703's. Anyone use ever use the stock ones from teamcherokee? Where did you get your replacement injectors?

I found this site with stock cherokee injectors for sale. Pretty good price too. Anyone ever hear of them?

I found these guys too. I think they're the 703's.

Look in the for sale section on here. Or in the vendor section.
