Go to the "test" forum. I posted two videos to see if they work.

One is testing the CPS and the other is testing the CMP.

I'm not sure what's going on in the vids because my audio driver in my PC disappeared so I can't hear what they are saying. I converted these vids from Youtube.

The CMP test shows a pinout but I'm not sure that's correct pinout for an XJ. The '99 diagnostic manual says to backprobe the middle pin for Ocilloscope testng.

Anyway, you might want to do some testing before changing parts.

didnt see this post til now. Already hastily replaced the cps, but it seems to be *fixed*(crossing my fingers). Jeep has been idling for about 20min without a hiccup. Going for a drive now, will report back.

Well I am pretty sure that solved the problem. Jeep ran great, multiple stops. Not a single hiccup. Thanks for the help, seriously GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Here is the beast I've been working on btw.

It has a 4.5" long arm kit, sye, tom woods drive shaft, upgraded steering, body stiffeners. Interior is pristine and runs great now! I landed this Jeep for 2k! I believe all I need now is a front driveshaft.

Thanks again

Glad you got it fixed.

That's a great looking machine you have there.

Cheers
