Default Rough Idle to Stall

Hey all, so I bought a 91 Cherokee that didn't run month or so ago, and just this week was able to get it finally started and running. However, now I can get it started, but after 5 or so seconds of running, the RPM's drop and it stalls. I can press on the gas in neutral or in gear and it will run for a bit longer, but eventually even if I don't let off the gas pedal the RPM's still drop and it stalls. I have less than a week before I need it running properly so I can get it registered. Any help getting this fixed would be great, thanks!

Check the basics. Fuel, spark, air. You are getting spark because it runs though it may need a tuneup still. Your also getting air because it runs though may still need an air filter. That leaves fuel. First step would be to check the fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge.

I just replaced the fuel pump so it won't be that, maybe the fuel lines? And for spark, how can I test the wires and plugs? Or is there no test really and I should just go out and buy new ones? And could air really be causing it to stall?

Just because you replaced the fuel pump doesn't mean it is working properly. Get a gauge and check the fuel pressure.

It is running you have spark. You may need a cap and rotor along with plugs and wires.

You would be suprised what a clogged air filter can do but I doubt its the problem here
