Rough Idle after tuneup. Please help.
Okay, so I have an '84 XJ, 2.8 V6.
I replaced the air filter, Distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, plug wires, and gave it an oil change as well.
I took extra measures to ensure that I put all the plug wires on the correct terminals. I've verified and re-verified that all of the plug wires are on firmly and where they are supposed to be.
It idled just fine before I replaced all of this, and I actually have tried 2 different distributor caps. Now it idles really rough and the engine will randomly die.
For some reason I'm just pretty dumbfounded by this and I'm not sure where to look next.
Any suggestions?

I gave my xj a tune up and it wouldnt start, I thought I crossed a wire somewhere but I didnt. It ended up being a bad coil wire from the new set. I would say double check the wires, maybe a cap isnt seated all the way, or maybe a bad wire?
I always gap my plugs these days, with recommended specs.
Hmm, didn't think about the plug wires being bad. I'll try taking those back and see if that changes things. I bought house brand stuff (I just use the jeep for a daily commute for now, can't afford to do anything crazy with it yet), figuring it'd be fine.
Tomorrow I'll take the wires back and see how that goes.
