well i kinda skipped a burger or two here and there to get mine together. anything above 3" adds a bit more cost. trackbar, lower control arms, definitely upgrade your u-bolts, sye, longer brake lines (or just ghetto rig your stock ones by stretching them, i did), shackles... the price adds up quick.
here's mine with my buddy's crap 235/75 tires.
and on my 31x10.50 that actually measure 32"
and here's how it looked stock as a christmas gift (oh yeah):

My Rough Country 4.5 came with lower control arms... u bolts... brake line relocation brackets and a transfer case drop. Eventually you'll want to upgrade to an SYE but the drop works for now. And why in the world would you need shackles? An adjustable track bar would be a good idea, but the kit itself is pretty complete.

I've put the 6 in a half an inch long arm kit on my 92 x j & i love it. i added 2" blocks in the rear and. 2" coil spacers in the front to make it 8 and a half inches. i'm running 35 1250 bfg km2 on 17 inch rubicon wheels. . the ride is actually comfortable, you can't tell much difference than before the lift . you don't really need a s y e until you go over 5 inches.

I gave 1650 for the lift and s y e. i priced the same lift from rustys and the lift alone was 1950.

I was really surprised at how complete the lift was. The only other things that i had to buy was a rear cv drive shaft and a heavy duty tie rod which i did buy from rustys.all together i have about 6000 dollars in my Jeep. I really need to post some pics soon.

scroll down to the bottom of that page, I got the lift with springs. I won't say what I paid for it, but if you call up there and ask for jason, mention this forum you'll likely get a little bit better deal.

EDIT: I do gotta point out that I actually got more like 5.5 almost 6 inches of lift out of this kit and that's measuring after I've had it on about 4 months. Definately get what ya pay for and then some.

That's a really sharp lookin' XJ you've got Donnie, I've been kinda sittin' on the fence about the 3" or 4.5" kits, and I do agree, the 3 inch kits look almost like stock to me anymore, and if I can scrape up enough cash I'll go with the 4.5, I'd love to get the 4.5" kit, do some trimming and run the 33x13.50 LTB's

shackles come in handy when your rear starts sagging. typically a brand new leafpack will sag about an inch or so over 6 months. then you can switch onto the next hole and gain that inch back. but mine were for a different reason. i bough procomp leafpacks and people said that they have gained between 2" and 5" of lift. so i didn't know how tall my rear was gonna set at. it sat at 6" the first month or so (with the shackles. huh... go figure), now it's down to 5" in the rear.

see, mine haven't sagged even a little bit yet. And I know people with the same lift who have had it for over a year and haven't sagged at all. I guess I will see over the next couple months, lol. So far I'm pretty impressed.

it's only a 50 dollar price difference. The 4.5" with full leaf packs is listed at 655, the 3" series II with full leaf packs is listed at 609.95

Quote: I was in your boat not too long ago, and let me tell you, I'm VERY glad I went with the 4.5" on my daily driver/weekend warrior. Especially after I helped a buddy put a 3" on his and it looked just about stock. Just be sure to get full leaf packs and not add a leaf.

It does ride rough... but not because it's rough country, it's because it's offroad suspension. Trucks are not cadillacs...
Agreed! Ya the amount of work that you put in to it is about the same 3" VS's 4.5" and almost everyone I know that went with the 3" wanted to go bigger with in a year. And the ride really does soften with time as it break's in.

My opinion is, they sell quality items, have great customer service, but their instructions suck.... Period

I like the RC lifts. Good for the $$, then just save for some better shocks.

Here is my rig with the RC 3" lift (ada leafs which sagged) running 30's.

And here is the RC 4.5 rock series kit, adjust UCA, and LCA's w/31's and they look a little small. I went ahead and did the SYE to avoid any vibes. My old 89 had 4-5" with no vibes.
