Hello, I have the base model xj so it didn't come with the plastic roof rail things, do I need them for a basket or for anything really? I was thinking about looking for it but if it really serves no purpose I will not attempt to look for it

Roof racks come in all kinds of different mounting syles.
Some mount to the rain gutters, others mount to the factory cross bars.
