I am looking into finally getting rid of most of my rust and here is the nastiest part. My Rocker Panels, I know there are threads out there that explain how to do it and that isn't my question.
My question is do I need a rocker panel backing plate? I'm going to upload pictures off my phone here in a second.
I ask because I found a link to get the panels at an affordable price, but then whil I was doing my searching I found the backing plate (not sure if I need one) but at an expensive price

Here are the pictures. Not sure what order they are in, but two are from under the jeep and two are looking at it. As you can tell it is rusted out really good. And don't mind under the jeep (next project)

dont buy replacement rockers. go get 2"x6"x3/16 wall tubing cheaper and then you have built in sliders. and will last alot longer than the stamped out tin they make the rocker panels out of. but after a second look at that last pic that wont work. your rusted way beyond that you need more that just the outer rocker. so your gonna have to replace it all

Honestly, the underside looks so bad that you probably have no structural integrity there and replacing it (ALL of it) is needed. And yes, to do a rocker, you need an inside rocker and outside rocker. But when everything is rotten, there is nothing to weld it to. Youre looking at a completely new floor pan, inside rocker and outside rocker. Man, that thing is B.... A.... D.... BAD! Sorry man but with the floor that gone the "frame" must be completely shot too. If you hit a big bump youre probably going to fold her in half.

The other side isn't as rusted out. I should have taken a picture. I'll get one up here soon.

Thanks for the advice, It will be sometime before I am actually able to get my hands onto it, as I am going to be busy getting ready for school to start up again. And I have to gather up the parts before hand also.
But in the meantime I'll be looking into the floor pans. I know fro a fact I need an entire driver floor pan as my feet rest on nothing but the carpet and the frame
And I know I am going to have to patch more spots under the jeep.... I am so afraid to pull the carpet.

But I am going to be looking fixing this probably next month and I can scrape up some shillings. I have never really been down there before so I was wondering if I could basically create my own rocker panel set up it of my own metal. (I'm sure it can be done) but my real concern is the inner rocker, is this something that can easily be made? (I'm not worried about the floor pans, those will be replaced in the same gig.
