I have the Chevy 2.8l 2v in my 85 cherokee. The Rochester carb has a lot (a LOT) of vacuum lines coming off of it. They can't all be necessary, can they? Are there any I can safely block off? Are there any popular and/or cheap mods for the Rochester carb?

The Chevy V6 in general?

It seems pretty peppy right now, but I know it could be better.

(And I don't consider swapping in a 4 litre a viable option for a free cherokee with dead 4WD).

i see this thread getting closed soon, as discussion of emissions removal is frowned upon on CF.

BUT, i took it all off mine, i think i have 4 lines hooked up, one goes to the brake booster, one to the distributor, pcv valves are t'd together and hooked to the carb, and theres one line thats hooked to one of the valves for idle control i think. still runs the same as before. i wanted to make it easier to work on for now, i plan to either get a weber carb or convert it to fuel injection in the future.
