And here's the engine...it sounds different in person than on this audio when I rev it. Also this was after I tightened the cover...this noise isn't near as bad as the one I get while driving.

And...in the video I hear a knocking sound that is giving me a mild panic attack so that's super. You can't hear the knocking much, standing beside it....just the roar.

The roar is the worst first thing in the morning...might try to take another video tomorrow morning when it's cold-cold.

Also..."he/him" is actually a she/her. Hence the girly hands pushing on the belt.
Ah, pink. Got it.

Question, when you twisted the belt, were you mot able to twist it 90*. If not then in maybe too tight. I have to re read everything else you posted and ill respond to those accordingly.

The dan shroud I tighten as much as I can. That hose usually falls in there on mines too. As long as it doesn't get chopped up.

Let me just say I'm going to be fairly annoyed if it's the water pump. I specifically said to put a used one in but they insisted on a brand new one. Rrrrr.

This? Is why I am going to learn to do all this myself.

Hehe. I'm going to change the SN soon anyway. I like my stealth sometimes but whatever. And I can BARELY twist it to 90*...and I may not even be making it all the way there. It's hard as heck to twist that far...hmmmmmmmm......

You should twist towards the middle of that point. You can try loosening it a little. If the belts too tight it'll wear the other pulleys out faster

Yeah I pulled out my manual to look at how to do it. I think I'll try just loosening it a smidge tomorrow or maybe this weekend. Thanks a ton for your input!

Well. Upon further analysis I think....it might be the muffler or catalytic converter.

I realized I was wrong about the RPM's. It does make the noise between 1500 and 2200 BUT only when I'm on the gas. The noise happens two times. When it first starts and has sat overnight or for several hours....it does it at first and then settles down....it's not super loud but there's a chugging AND a...squeak/whine coming from underneath around the middle...

And then when I'm driving if I'm on the gas much at all, it roars at me. The roar increases in proportion to the acceleration UNTIL it gets over 2200 and is about to shift gears. Once it does shift, RPMs drop, and noise comes back. So the noise is minimal if I'm minimally on the gas and is lessened when it's ABOUT to shift.

I also read another thread about it maybe being the support for the trans and I couldn't see any cracks or issues there.

I think I'm going to take it to my dad's mechanic (he's been a family friend since before I was born, I trust that he won't bullshht me) and get him to ride in it with me. I'm running out of ideas here.

Default Belt too tight

Doesn't it have an auto-tensioner ?

It really sounds like they installed the fan shroud back wrong after replacing the pump. Bet the bottom tabs are not slipped down in the slots like they should be. I did this myself one time because I was in a hurry. The symptoms are all the same as what I got the first drive out that day.

It placed it just slightly closer to the fan so that the engine torque would make it rub for just a bit and the fan is probably sucking the shroud into it's self.

Might want to take out the small bolts at the top that hold the shroud on and gently push it back towards the motor and check to make sure the bottom tabs are actually all down in the flat slotted tabs where it should be first before bolting the top back. Bet none or only a couple are in like they should be.

Curious whatever happened with this? Did we find out what was causing it?
