looks to be in good shape. check under it for rust though. i know these will run for quite a long time, but for 206k 2 grand seems a little high, even with some upgrades. for comparison on this, i paid 8 grand for my '01 with 67k miles.
I don't think it is unreasonable with all of the add ons. I bought my 96 for $1200, but it came stock and I'll invest well over $800 to lift and put bumpers on it. Then again, I have less miles, and a newer rig. understanding that there is a ton of personal preference, I'd hold off for a newer model with less than 200k on the ticker. Then again, a complete maintenance history can be priceless and a lot of folk really do like the older rigs. What are you planning to use your XJ for (DD, dedicated trail rig, or somewhere in between)?

it's in nice shape, looks good with that pre-runner front bumper. if it's from around the california area, there should be little rust.
but those wheels are steel, not alloy. even better tho. paint them black and they'll look nice.
200,000 miles is a lot. that's almost 322,000 kilometers. it's a lot, but i've seen some with 450,000 kms.
at least a low mileage engine is pretty cheap and easy to change out.
tow package upgrade might be lucky and have a d44 rear.
2g is a lot in my opinion with that mileage, maybe 1500 or b/o. but it is a non smoker, so that holds value.
if you really like it, barter with him, if he's motivated. not many others will want a vehicle with that mileage....

take it for a good drive and check to see if it has the d44 rear end if it does then I would jump on it and chances are you can talk the guy down a bit if you have the cash in hand I would try for 1600-1800 dollar range.
Mine was $2500 and its a'94, 3" Skyjacker doubleflex, cold-air, TB spacer and has got 265000km (165000m) on it. I think that ones a pretty good deal, but I bet you could still get him down a bit more.
