I have a 91 XJ and I love it, but it is startting to show her age. now all of a sudden, when I turn to the right when moving, the gas guage drops off to empty and the fuel light comes on. this is ONLY when I turn to the right when moving. if I turn right sitting still nothing happends to the gas guage. I took the fuel sending unit out, and cleaned the contacts on the float resistor, and bent the wiper arm a little so to make sure it had good contact. I put my Ohm meter on it and all the way up ( full ) it was almost a short, and all the way down ( empty) it was 107 Ohms. and when I moved the float arm sideways because I noticed a little play from years of use. the reading did not change, so I am comfident that the level sending unit is ok. is there a ground maybe somewhere that could be lose and flopping around when I turn right ? where is the gas tank ground, I didn't see it when I was under the car. any help would be great, and thanks in advance.

any chance you looked inside the tank because it is possible that one or more of the baffles have deteriorated and the fuel is sloshing around causing your low fuel light. as for the grounds not quite sure but that is definetly something worth looking into before replacing a tank.
