RHD belt tensioner help!
I have a RHD 95 Cherokee XJ and I removed the belt using the tensioner in order to access my thermostat. However, I am having the hardest time getting the tensioner back to it's proper position. I am new at working on this type of Jeep and the fact that it is RHD is giving me all sorts of misinformation when I search online for answers. I see that the tensioner is supposed to rotate back to position but how the hell do I get it to do that? The hex bolt seems to have no effect on the component besides simply making it possible to remove the entire tensioner. ANY help would be appreciated!
The hex bolt is to secure the tensioner to the bracket. There should be a hole for a 1/2" socket wrench to fit in and you use that, or a cheater bar in the slot in the top of your picture to get leverage. Based on what you said above, when you went to remove the belt, you loosened the nut and took it off that way, correct? If so, remove the belt, reinstall the tensioner to the correct factory position, and then reinstall the belt by the correct method of moving the tensioner (check youtube.com for vids showing how if you need)
