In that case, get a 2wd transmission and front beam. Less rotating mass. It's a bolt in swap. Steering and suspension. You get hammered for asking questions?

I'm just gonna say your idea is a stupid one. You can buy a lot of gasoline for the cost of the parts required to downgrade your XJ. I don't mean to hammer on you, but it really is a dumb thing to do.
Currie sells the 2wd i beam http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces...6.aspx?id=4172 1300 bucks plus shipping from usa to new zealand would be murder. For the same money you can buy another car.

yes 2wd jeep ARE rare in my part of the world. it will be 1 of 1. yes that rare.
i know there is a lot of work for little gain, but i didnt say i was going to keep it completely standard either.
i want my jeep to be unique and throwing a lift kit on and some big mud tyres is what everybody does... i d rather be going down the roads and have people say ive never seen someone do that with a jeep before.

If you really want a 2WD Jeep then that's your choice, but if you want to spend money now to save fuel costs in the future then an LPG conversion is the way to go.
