Default Reverse Light Help

Hello guys. Newbie here. I found that my reverse lights were acting up. I know they acutually work but not when they are supposed to. When I shift into reverse they don't work right away but if I pull back on the shifter a little bit (towards N) they turn on. They seem to just need a little extra tension to work. Any ideas? NSS perhaps? Not really sure where to start. Anything would be helpful. Thanks.

Sounds like your shift cable just needs a little adjusting

Try to adjust the cable first, if that does not work, then you can rebuild the NSS.

Cool. Thanks guys. What is the best way to do that? I apologize for my ignorance. I'm one of those FNG's. Thanks again.

Almost assuredly related to the neutral safety switch.

Follow the procedure in the link I'm providing below. It is a very comprehensive how-to on "refurbishing" the NSS.

Pay special attention to adjustment when you are done. You sometimes need to take a couple of passes at this to get it right.

Good luck!
