Default Reuse U-joint straps/bolts. Good or bad idea?

Changing rear ujoints today.....forgot to get new straps.

Bad idea to reuse the old ones until I cant get to town? Might be a week or more. I've got other transportation if I have to wait.

The FSM says to replace them but I've reused ones I recently replaced. If you are replacing old rusty ones I would replace them as soon as possible.

They look ok and are about two years old. I was taught to replace bolts that have been torqued so I'll probably just wait until I can get to town. No real hurry to drive it unless we get covered up in new snow. Gotta drive this thing 1700 miles across country soon and am working from bumper to bumper checking and replacing stuff that could be potential problems along the way.

honestly i re use mine. Hell, I went so far as to actually put them on a scale and weigh them out so that they and the bolts weigh the same.

I reuse mine all the time. Unless there is apparent damage to them I wouldn't worry about it.

i would re-use them. Throw them up on a wire brush wheel and clean them up, then possibly throw down some paint on them. Thats what i've been doing.
