So finding a brand new fuel sending unit for a late model 1996 cherokee is impossible and remanufactered are out of cores. It seems 96 was a odd year since 1997 to 2001 share the same sending unit with in tank fuel filter. My filter is external however my sendig unit has only one port not like other 96 and it looks different that 97-01. So the question is can I use a 97 to 01 sending unit/ fuel tank on a 96 chassis. My worry is about the wiring. And not sure why I can't find a 97 fuel tank.
