Default Replacing Cooling System Questions

First, thanks for all of the great threads and tips I found to get ready to do this. I am replacing everything in the cooling system (except heater core) in my 99 4.0 Auto. I am running into a couple issues from the previous owner that I could use some help with.

It looks like the previous owner at some point messed with the factory electric fan and cut off the connector from the wiring harness. I can splice the wires on to the new fan but wanted to see if there was anywhere to purchase the connector? I assume I can go hunting at the junk yard but wanted to see if it was possible to buy new.

It also looks like the lower Auto trans line is connected to the rad via hose clamp vs the factory fitting that I understand needs a special tool to remove. I am worried about leaking from here without the correct fitting. What would this fitting be called and can I get one from the parts store?

Thanks for any help.

You don't give the yr of your XJ but I looked under '99 and found the parts. Look at this link:

I'm assuming the lower line your asking about is an auto trans line.

Thanks. Yes. Sorry I have a 99 and it is the auto trans line. I edited the original post.

Now what are the chances of me correctly guessing you had a '99? I'd better go buy a Powerball ticket.

Most auto parts store sell water proof connectors, similar to what was factory.

That fitting is called a royal pain in the posterior. Cut the stupid thing off and use rubber transmission line and hose clamps. Much easier to use, and works just fine.

The only benefit to those fittings is that they make the assembly line go faster. There is no benefit after they get off the assembly line.

Don't worry about leaks. Those are not high pressure lines.

Thanks for the suggestions. All hooked back up and just returned from a test drive. Normal temp and so far no leaks.
