Is there a thread here somewhere explaining the best way to locate correctly and attach the badges after painting? Must be some kind of glue, I suppose. Don't see any obvious way to position the pieces though. Thank you. And does anyone have the part number for the windshield molding clips? I think there were about 26 of them, some of which broke during removal and replacement of the glass. Thanks again.

I’d recommend 3M “trim tape” for your badges. Just trim to fit, and MAKE SURE you get it where you want it the FIRST time.

I’ve used these clips before from eBay

Cant help with the exact placement of the badges, but Quadtratec has those clips. As do others. A Google search for '92 cherokee windshield clips' is how i found them.

For the badges I used 3M molding tape and did the best I could based on original pics of the year and model I have.

Your lucky that most of your badging is one piece.
I think I would use the 3M stuff in the tube.
Something like this:

Amazon Amazon

As far as the loose "Jeep" letters, guessing from the header, new one might be best. But new ones are not cheap.
I know the chances of me putting them back on, spacing them properly, and getting them on straight would be slim and none so....
I have researched this a bit cause toying with the idea of getting the Jeep painted or maybe bedlined.
Thinking even if I made a template before I took them off I would still do a crappy job.
I did come across this in my travels:

https://www.adhesivetemplates.com/find-templates

Look like they make templates. But even they are not cheap.
And appear to not make what I think you need for your year anyway. But do for my '00.

Wondering if it would still work for you. Doesn't look like they have changed the logo over the years.
But if so why don't they look like they sell a template for a '92.

That video clip is funny, especially considering I was a United States Border Patrol Agent working in El Paso, Texas from 1985-1989!

The windshields didn't change over the years, just the trim. You can use the later rubber trim with the older Cherokees. The only difference is looks.

When I repainted my 92 back in the day, I just replaced all the badging with new vinyl decals from eBay. Cleaner look and more options.

It's not silicone, and do NOT use silicone! It's a special urethane windshield adhesive, and you can get it at NAPA or other auto parts stores. It's FAR stronger than silicone, and makes the windshield actually part of the structure of the roof.

It's also the weather seal for your windshield. The aluminum trim, or the rubber trim for later models, is purely cosmetic.
