Replaced old cps.. still would not run

I borrowed a cps from a 4.0 cylinder jeep. Still would not work in my 1989 jeep cherokee laredo. Do I need to get the original part to keep it running?

the sensor you took might be bad aswell.
Go to the JY and pick 3-4 sensors, or buy a new one.

Check your camshaft sensor (coil pick up).
