My 2001 Cherokee has factory Keyless entry/Alarm. It mostly stoped working and then i lost my one key fob.
How hard is it to replace with a new system? Is there a better and or a worse replacement company? I do not want remote start just door locks. I am not sure if I have chiped keys how do I tell short of a build sheet?

I bought a new fob and had it programmed at the local Jeep dealership. The not working issue may be simple and in the drivers door control.

 

Highly doubt it's a chip key at that age.

Go to Ace hardware and they can program you a new fob, for much less than the dealership would charge. They also have a scanner (at least the one I work at does) to test keys for the RFID chips. My 01 doesn't have a chip tho
