I am struggling to drop the fuel tank on my 96XJ. I had the tank off when I replaced my fuel pump about 150k ago.
Now the two bolts that hold up the front of the tank seem to be frozen. I have sprayed some old Rust Eater on them that I had in the shed and let the sit for several days and they still won't budge.
Any suggestion on what I can do to get these to turn?
I have considered cutting and replacing them, but quite honestly I do not have the right tools to do the job and am VERY nervous about cutting anything or using heat that close to the fuel tank.
Any wisdom?

You might try one of those electric heat guns. They send an electrical charge throught the bolt which heats up due to resistance. Dont know how much they are but they work good for heating stuff when you dont want an open flame around.

Heats it up cause its shorting itself on it. Resistance/impedance plays no role.

i used pb blaster, a wrench and some vice grips. put the vice grips on the bolt so when you try to turn the nuts the bolts dont twist from the rubber straps( vice grips against the tank ). and a lot of muscle.
if you dont have the muscle then use the loop end of another wrench at a cheater bar
