Default Removing front bumper "edit" Got it off... PICS

When I bought my XJ it has this stulid looking towbar on the front of it from a motor home I guess, It has a 4 pin plug on it so i'm assuming it was towed. Anyway all of the bolts that hold it on are spinning so I guess there in there with bolts. I need to get the bumper off and i'm not sure what bolts to remove. Do I have to remove it with the torxs bolts or can I remove it with the 6 hex bolts that go into the frame? Also will removing the bumper give me acess to the inside if the frame rail?

you can pull the brackets off the frame to remove the bumper, 3 on each side. one is threaded in to the frame and two have a "nutclip" that they go into. may need spray them with PB to make sure they come out. make sure to unbolt or disconnect the Vacuum bottle on the right side before removing the bumper. as for access to the framerail, there is a hole but not that big. why did you need to get in there?

I have to get in there because the bolts that are holding the tow bar on go down through the bottom of the frame rail and I have to hold the top of them with a wrench.

Looks much better without those front bumper caps.

I would have left the bottom spoiler/lip on. It creates less drag, which helps in gas mileage.

I'm taking the flares off so it had to go anyway. Plus I think it's butt ugly
