Default remove both axle shafts at once?

i am changing both front hubs and at the same time both front axle shaft u-joints. My question is, " can i remove both axle shafts out of the diff without my spider gears falling into the case"? I want to take both axle shafts to work to change the u-joints. [we have presses there]
