The electric fan is not coming on in my 88 XJ making it run hot. I'm just wondering which relay is for the fan so I can rule that out of the problem. The Haynes book-o-lies doesn't say which relay is for what.

It's is on the driver's side fender near the airbox.

 

Cool! I was thinking it was going to be in that set of three on the passenger's side. Well that makes that easier then. Is there a good way to test it to see if it is bad or just buy a new one? Happen to know the specs on it?

 

Another thing to check is the temp sender that is devoted to that fan. It is on the side of the radiator unless someone changed to the open system, then that is why you are getting no fan.

 

I actually have a new temp sensor to install with the new radiator today. I just figured I would ask about the relay now in case the sensor doesn't fix the problem.
