Default Reinstalling Chrome Strips on Edge of Roof

I have an 87 Laredo that I recently painted. When I removed the long thin chrome strips that run along the sides of the roof, they came off easily be turning them up and twisting off. I am having trouble reinstalling. The process doesn't seem to work in reverse. What is the trick of getting the little clips in the chrome strip to lock onto the ridge?

Thanks for you help!

I've wondered the same thing. I vaguely remember hearing somebody using a rubber mallet to get them back on, have you tried that?

It would be a shame if they went FUBAR on you, might try pulling and reinstalling one at pull a part.
