Greets all!

I have a Jeep Cherokee 1998 Sport 4.0 L6 4x4. She's over 20 years old and I had her since she was new off the lot. She has a lot of things that needs fixing and I am looking for a manual that has everything I want to know, right down to the bolts used on the door panels.

As it happens, that is exactly what I am looking for right now, the size, thread pitch of the bolts, whatever, of all the hardware needed that is used on the door parts. Power windows regulator, control panel, bolts used to mount the door panels. I want to replace every aging piece and bring her back to her young years excellence.

Online reference, database, manual, anything that is a complete detailed reference right down to each bolt, nut, connector, gauge of wire. I hope such a thing exists!!

She runs great! just looks like crap. I want to replace the interior, the broken air vents (all the plastic just snaps to ashes, I live in the AZ desert), seats, door panels. It's a long list.

Don't get me wrong, I love her with all my heart. Just want to restore her as best I can. After all, I'll DIE before I sell her or trade her.

Also looking to upgrade the dash to hold more modern features new vehicles have.

Thanks for listening! Hope someone can recommend a manual or source of info I need. I appreciate it!

Go here:

Best $8 you'll ever spend on your Jeep. I've had mine from them for years, and it has everything you'll need and then some.

BTW, this is a digital copy of the factory service manual used by Jeep dealerships. So, it literally has everything.

I downloaded free Factory Service and Parts Manuals for various Jeeps 1979-2000, including those you require

from memory it is a link on the NAXJA site, if not the Aussie Jeep forum, or maybe here?

have over 1000 Manuals on my computer, 99% free downloads

They did a bait and switch on me, almost. The site you linked says $7.95 but when you click to buy it, it shows $14.95 in the cart.

I had problems with them, too, and they were very nasty to deal with. I do not recommend them.

But the FSM is what you want.

Chilton and Haynes are worse than nothing.

"How can they be worse than nothing, Mark?"

Because they have incorrect information in them. Some of it will be right, some will be wrong. For example, many people have spent a lot of time pulling their hair out trying to get a Jeep to run because those two show the distributor wiring incorrectly.

Yeah, too bad. The links are there, but the manuals are not.

Oh well, they didn't have my year anyway. It skips from 97 to 99!

let us not be deterred by a small snafu

try this site, ( checked 2000 FSM is downloadable)...and many others

https://xjjeeps.com/#ReferenceDocuments

@BRM to the best of my knowledge, the 97-99 FSM (and Parts) cover the '98

unfortunately the '96 FSM is not available online (to my knowledge)
a paper copy does exist.

both my '96 is are "pre-update" with OB2 sensors

Thank you! I already had the 97, but now I have the parts manual, too.

I thank you all for your recommendations. Unfortunately, I still have not found what I am looking for.

Maybe I am looking in the wrong place, meaning maybe I am looking for a manual and should be looking for a paper.

I just want to know all the parts for my front and rear doors. Every single part, all the way down to the bolts and nuts needed for the window regulators, bolts that hold the door panel, etc. You see, I have the window regulators and door panels, but I do not have the hardware to mount them. Yes, just the nuts and bolts.

And I have a bolt missing in the read hatch mount. Obviously I am looking for a bolt replacement without having to buy the whole thing.

If I knew the length, thread pitch, diameters, I could probably look for hardware that is compatible.

Thanks again guys for the reply posts!!

That might be in the parts manual. I haven't looked at mine yet. I didn't know of their existence until awg posted those links!
