When I got my xj all the wires going to the hatch were worn through at the top of the hatch and I found another black hatch with tinted window in the yard so I changed the whole hatch.
In the new hatch everything works fine and all wired are good but if I turn on the rear wiper it only takes the first swipe. If I want it to keep wiping I have to push the button every time. What controls this? The button or wiper itself

I would like to know also
mine ('93) , when in spray mode .. is lightening fast wiping, it wont stop until i push button down other way, normal wipe mode .. that takes a couple pushes to get it to stop too
at least sprayer works good, but wiping action seems way too fast
