Default rear wheel bearings

Sooo.. I have a roaring sound coming from the rearend, I originally thought nothing of it, since it started at roughly the same time that I put the 33's on it, but now it has gotten worse and I have confirmed that it needs a passenger side wheel bearing. It has been doing it for a couple months now (I know, I know) and I have a feeling the shaft is going to be rough. I noticed that AutoZone lists a Timkin bearing that is supposed to touch the axle in a different spot than a regular bearing.

Has anyone used this bearing? Any thoughts on it?

Which year of which axle and which bearing dude? Lol

I'm pretty sure Timken 6408 is OE in late-model C8.25s.

I see them all the time in my line of work. They are a repair bearing also called a buddy bearing. They were designed for temporary use for when a replacement axle is not available or is out of the budget for the time being. They will last around a year under normal driving conditions in a stock application.

^^this..

Shouldn't be difficult to source a 27 spline shaft if you should need one.

If it's gonna take buying a new shaft, I think I might just go to the junkyard and look for a 29spl 8.25 or an 8.8...
