The box in your hand is a converter, it converts vehicles with separate brake lites and tail lites to combined tail/stop for trailers. If you are trying to convert your vehicle tail lites to a combo unit you'll need to convert it as well.

Jeeps have separate turn and brake lights. If you dont use a coverter (aftermarket is fine) you wont have either brake lights or turn signals if you tow a trailer. You will have one or the other but not both on the trailer. Now having said that if the person who wired the trailer harness got it wrong that may be where your original prob came from. It looks like you removed it for sure. The only way to check it is to refer to a wiring diagram and follow the color codes to make sure its like original. You can chase the wires with a volt meter but having a diagram is best.

That's what happens when you jump into electrical work with no understanding of how the circuit works. Don't mean to rag on you, but as a warning to anyone else reading the thread. Don't just jump in there and start cutting things out.
Best bet is to put it back the way it was, if you can, and troubleshoot from there.
Did it work before you started, and what were you trying to accomplish?

your problem is your new tail light housings where the turn/stop are combined. Your Jeep has separate turn/stop circuits. Connecting these together like you have will cause all kinds of issues. You can use your new housings but you will need to install a converter in the Jeep wiring before the new housings. Follow the directions on the converter you purchase but I'll give you a quick rundown, On the converter you'll probably have 5 wires on one side and 4 on the other. The red wire needs to be connected to the Jeeps' stop light wire, yellow to left turn, green to right turn, brown to tail lights and white to ground, on the other side of the converter connect yellow to left turn on your new housing, green to right turn, brown to tail lights and white to ground. This should take care of all your issues, or you could just put the old housings back in. Good luck!

Thanks ill work on it and I have done this before this jeep has had tons of electrical issues. The previous trailer harness was rotted out, one of the tailight housings, was broken and none of the sockets worked. I did this same swap on my chevy and had no issues I tried using a converter already but it had three wires on one side. one for stop, one for turn, one for taillights. It converted it to 2 wires one for tail one for stop/turn it didnt work.

Ive traced the issue to the brake lights. Ive got a converter installed left signal only works when im pressing the brake right signal flashes both lights unless I press the brakes then the brake overrides the left signal amd the right signal works as it should. With no signals on the brakes only light up the left no brake light on the right whatsoever could I be looking at a faulty brake light switch?
