Default Rear sway bar removal question

I need to get my rear sway bar off immediately as it is rubbing my tires. However, one of the u-bolt nuts is stuck. I have let it soak in pb blaster for 24 hours and if I torque it anymore I will almost undoubtedly shear the bolt which I really don't want to deal with. So, has anyone just cut the sway bar off right where it mounts to the springs/ axle?

I left the brackets on the spring plates and just removed the bolts (one on each side) that hold the sway bar to them.

Just hack it off and leave the bracket on the spring plates. Not going to hurt a thing.

I'm going to get the brackets off at sometime though as I want to use them for BPE's.

I'm little leery about using an electric saw that close to the gas tank. Should I be concerned, should I just use a hand saw?

Are you that horrible at controlling electric tools? Or is there a asteroid passing over the earth that you're afraid of?(old school movie lol)

Can't get the nut and bolt loose that hold the sway bar link to the bracket? If your worried about sparks or hot metals bits hang something between the bar and tank and use your electric saw.

Lol no, I just have never done it by a gas tank. I don't want be on one of those 1,000 ways to die shows. Now that I think about it, I dont think a reciprocating saw would be a problem. I will also hang something in front of the tank.

No problem at all. Most exhaust shops will even weld near the tank as long as its not leaking.
