Default Rear Shock Question

Ok here is the deal, i went to replace the rear shocks on my 98 xj and the bolts that hold the top of the shock to the body snapped off. My question is what can i do to fix this? i tried to drill the bolt out and wound up breaking the bit off. So any and all help would be great! thanks in advance.

Grab a long punch and a BFH and break the welded nuts off. Then put bolts coming down.

Where the shock pins bolt to the under-body, about a foot to the inside there is an access to the welded in nuts. If you break them loose or drill them out, with a long handled pair of pliers you can reach back to the new shock bolts and re-install new nuts without drilling or cutting a hole in your floor, just an FYI...

Thanks so much for the help, I thought for sure I was going to have to cut into my floor.

No problem, I have read lots of posts where people cut holes into their floors to do this same job. Seems with the right tools it can be done from these access locations.

I drilled the hole big enough to install a nutsert and replaced all of the bolts. Worked great!
