I have a 92 cherokee. All stock. I was in the middle of changing the rear shock , I went to undo the top bolts that hold it to the underside of the jeep and they broke off. Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated. I'm stuck.

Often I will search something like "jeep cherokee xj forum broken rear shock bolts" on google which brings up several other forums to get more results. I also often search directly for naxja, jeep forum, cherokee talk, and xj talk, and pirate.
Like stated, this an extremely common issue. The advice most will give you is to use an air hammer to break off the captive nuts then fish in some new bolts from the top. That's what I did and it worked great. There's a couple really good videos of it on youtube.

The PO on my vehicle cut 4" diameter holes in the floor and welded in new nuts.
It fixed the problem, but don't recommend it.
