Default Rear seat lever removal?

On my 1996 Jeep Cherokee that I'm parting out, I have a request for the plastic levers at the top of each ends of the rear bench seat. These are the release levers.

I have looked closely and found that they have a very small metal pin that holds them on the flat rod ends.

Has anyone been able to remove these pins and how have you done it.

I still have plenty of parts if anyone needs anything.

Thanks

You're either going to have to punch them out or drill them out.

Sell them the whole seat and let them do it. That's what salvage yards do.

I haven't done this with a Jeep seat, but looking at the parts blow up from the '94 - '96 parts catalog (that I downloaded from xjjeeps.com) it is a simple spring steel pin (J045 5735 3 PIN, Spring). You've got two choices you can drive it out with an appropriately sized pin punch or you can drill it out. Depending on the size of the pin you might be able to use a nail as a pin punch.

He's right Atomic, just take a small nail of the same diameter and use it to drive the pin out. Thanks!

"No Nail" just get a set of Drive Pin Punches they are cheap and really a must have item for your tool kit, I have several sets up to 1" in dia. If you want a quality set like for guns or the like get a set of "Starrett" Drive Pin Punches worth the extra money.

Great feedback so far. I'm good with using the punch deal but the hole doesn't go through the other side of the lever. If I punch it through, will is break out the other side or just imbed itself into the plastic?

If it's blind on the other side, you're going to have to drill it out.

I hope you're getting a good amount of money for these.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you get what you wanted off? As in the picture of the lever apart from the seat?

Maybe the guy at the assembly plant that puts the pins in those was on a smoke break when that Jeep went by on the line.
