Honestly, the rear sway bars on Cherokees are not very useful. Ask most folks who have had their xj for a long time they will tell you they took it off a long time ago.
I broke mine a long time ago and didn't find out until I put on my lift. Took it off then never put it back on. There is no difference.
I would just take it off, you won't even know it's not there. The very important sway bar is the front. I would look at front discos and just get rid of the rear.
Just my $.02

Take it off, you'll barely notice a difference!!! No need for a quick disco system. My $.02, anyways...

I want to do the same to mine...keep in place with disconnects. I will tow a time or two...and like the added stability. If you find anything...let me know.

I removed my rear swaybar when I lifted my XJ like 6 months ago and never put it back on. I can hardly tell it's gone, I even used parts of it to make myself some rear upper bar pin eliminators via this guide...

http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/.../Rear_BPEs.htm

They work great, I'd much rather have the BPE's than the rear sway! XJ's even came from the factory without rear swaybars with certain option packages. They are pretty useless...

unless you are going with a larger bar in the rear you wont know if it is there or not when towing there is no disconnects for the rear because nobody normal leaves it on when lifting. beside if you make the links in the rear any longer than what they are they will bang up the sheet metal in the back. but maybe some one has done it before.

i know wat you guys are saying with the rear sway bar out, when i had my 3" lift i had it out no problem but when i added 2" shackles in the back it got kinda tippy out back so i put it back on, and the reason i need a swaybar is because i drive 20 mile each day to school one way on the highway and these days my poor jeep barlet ever sees mud

Like stated before take it off man it's not worth the time to think of rear disco's and you wont notice it........
