Default Rear main seal replacement help

Hey guys. Got another problem going on. Im swapping out my leaking rear main seal tonight. Or at least trying to. I am pretty sure its the original seal and it has glued itself to the block. So at this point, I cant get the top half of it out. It will not spin. My punch just keeps sinking further and further in to the seal but the other side is not moving like it is supposed to. You guys got any tips? Should I loosen all the main caps and try to drop the back of the crank down a little? I know it wont move much but maybe enough to get the seal out? I really really really dont feel like pulling the engine and popping the crank out so any help would be great.

And to make the situation worse, I just popped the lower seal out of the main cap and it was siliconed in... I think I know where this is headed

I loosened up all of the bearing caps to get mine out. When using your punch, make sure your hitting the metal strip in it, not just the rubber seal.

I was hitting the metal strip last night. Guess I was just having a bad night. Went back at it this morning with more force and it spun free. That could have ended up being a disaster

Yeah, I fought with mine for a while before it finally let go. Glad you got it.
