Default Rear Liftgate Support Cylinders

Ones dead, need to replace it. How do you remove/install them? They are just a ball and socket joint on both ends, so do you just simply pry the old off, hammer the new ones on?

There is a little metal piece that you pry down with a flat head screw driver if I remember correctly and yes it is a ball/socket joint. I replaced mine with some off of a bronco since their tail gate is heavier. The door pretty much flies open. The problem is that they don't extend as far so it hangs a bit lower. They would be ideal if I had a lift.
