I bought a black friday Sony stereo deck for $42 (Best Buy)

my prior thoughts on old alpine deck: rear speakers were toast .. or deck had lost signal to rear .. didnt play burned Cds anyways (older model)

93 Base XJ, minimal options

** figured it out. must have been a brain lapse yesterday .. normal retainer pins .. luckily didnt break the attachments on panel .. but its a pita getting the broke pins out, really dont wanna push them inside & have a rattly hatch

need some kind of small pickle fork remover I assume to get panels off easier

i said this is a Base XJ .. NO kidding .. theres no rear speakers .. their mounts are virgin paint w/ wire harness hangin there .. gotta love it .. all that for Nada

My hatch has been busted since i got the XJ. I never hear it really, took it off a while back to try and fix a speaker that wasn't working and busted about 3 pins, and there where already 2 busted. Got some Toyota pins at the parts store, they're a little beefier so they won't brake as easily. And hold better.

And lol yeah, Base models do't have jack-crap on them. Not even AC if I'm right!
Little hint, Those grilles on the lower dash? Those are for Tweeters. The higher end models had 6-piece systems, just pick up the tweeters from the local junkyard. Grab a few other nice things while your there too, like foot lights and a dash clock!
