Don't really matter. I like the feeling of warm oil running down my arm.....

Personally I feel that it is easier to evacuate the fluid while it is warm. But it really doesn't matter. Make sure you use a limited slip additive if you have a LS diff!

Quote: Well today I went around to all of the parts stores in town and none of them carry a GL-4 gear oil. They only carry GL-5 and GL-4/GL-5 fluids. What am I to do.

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier... Do you have a Farm-type store? TSC, Fleet/Farm, Farm and Fleet, etc? They will have something there that is GL-4 spec'ed. There are industrial lubes that meet the GL-4 and a handful of the high end synthetics also meet the GL-4 spec.

I also like doing it warm... A. it feels NICE..

B. its actually easier to clean it all out. There is a lower amount of gear lube clinging to the rear end pieces when it is warm.
