has anyone ever had rust above the pinch welds in the rear fenders? If so what did you do to fix it?

I think RustyLaredo might have done something to fix that. I don't know but you could shoot him a PM and see. You could always just cut it apart and weld it back together yourself with some new sheetmetal.

x2. The only real "fix" is to cut out the cancer, give it some intense chemo, and weld in some new metal.

yea for sure man. its a little hard to just start cutting into your jeep without looking at all your options. i know how you feel. it took me a year to get enough courage to cut my fenders on my clean bodied jeep.

Oh, I'm the complete opposite. I'm the first one to pull out the power tools and starting cutting into my XJ. This is probably because the first day I had it, I took it off road and tore a hole through the body when a washing machine got hung up on my Jeep. It was dark and my first time on that trail and I didn't see the washing machine dragging down the side of my Jeep. The next weekend, I cut out the hole and welded in a patch. Better than new after that. I was sliding on a frozen lake and smashed into a small tree where I patched it and it held up great. Point being, if it needs to be cut out and replaced, better to do it now than later, especially when dealing with rust.
